Basics

This privacy policy is intended to inform users of this website about the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the website operator, Christliche Studenten Wien, info@christlichestudentenwien.at.

The website operator takes your privacy seriously and treats your personal data confidentially and in accordance with statutory provisions. Because new technologies and the continued development of this website may lead to changes in this privacy policy, we recommend that you read through it again from time to time.

Definitions of the terms used, such as “personal data” or “processing”, can be found in Art. 4 GDPR.

Access Data and Hosting

This website is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) on the Cloudflare Pages platform. When a page is requested, Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data, in particular the IP address, the path requested, the date and time of the request, and details of the browser and operating system. This processing serves to deliver the website and to defend against attacks, and rests on our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We run no server of our own and keep no log files of our own. We therefore have neither access to this connection data nor any influence over how long it is kept; that is governed by Cloudflare's own policies.

Cookies and Local Storage

This website sets no cookies. No cookie is set or read either when a page is opened or when a form is submitted.

The only thing stored is your choice of appearance, light or dark, in your browser's local storage. That entry stays solely on your device, is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, and contains no identifier by which you could be recognised. You can delete it at any time through your browser settings.

No consent is required for this, because nothing is stored or read beyond what the function you expressly asked for needs (§ 165(3) TKG 2021).

Web Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are being visited. No cookies are set, nothing is placed in local storage, and no device or browser identifiers are created, so there is no fingerprinting. You are not recognised across visits or across other websites.

Only aggregated details are evaluated, such as the page visited, the referring source, the approximate region and the type of device. None of it can be attributed to you personally. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in designing the website to suit the people using it, under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Protecting Our Forms

On the pages carrying forms we use Cloudflare Turnstile to keep automated submissions out. A script is loaded from challenges.cloudflare.com, and your IP address together with technical details about your browser is passed to Cloudflare so it can check whether the request comes from a person. Cloudflare Turnstile uses no cookies for this. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protection against misuse, under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Handling of Contact Data

If you get in touch through one of our forms, we process the details you give us in order to deal with and answer your enquiry. For the contact form that is your name, your telephone number and, if you give one, your message; for the CSWien Night sign-up it is your name, your telephone number and whether or not you are coming.

These details are stored at Airtable (Formagrid, Inc., 155 5th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA), which we use to manage enquiries and sign-ups.

In addition, every submission sends us a notification by email to info@christlichestudentenwien.at containing the same details. It means we can reply promptly, and that a submission still reaches us if storing it fails. We use Resend, Inc. (USA) to send it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling your enquiry reliably, under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Beyond the service providers named above, we do not pass this data on without your consent.

Rights of the User

As a user you have the right, on request, to be told free of charge what personal data about you has been stored. You also have the right to have incorrect data corrected, and to have the processing of your personal data restricted or the data erased. Where it applies, you may also exercise your right to data portability. If you believe your data has been processed unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

Erasure of Data

Unless your request conflicts with a statutory obligation to retain data, such as mandatory retention periods, you have a right to have your data erased. Data we hold is deleted once it is no longer needed for its purpose and no statutory retention period stands in the way. If erasure cannot be carried out because the data is required for permissible legal purposes, processing is restricted instead: the data is blocked and not processed for any other purpose.

Right to Object

Users of this website may exercise their right to object, and may object to the processing of their personal data at any time.
